How To Keep Your Bodies Defenses High During Cold Season

By Chris Channing

General health advice can usually offer only so much, and many people skimp on the things that are truly the most important to your health. Your body withstands so much each day, and certain factors can really weaken its ability to function under demand and stresses. There are plenty of general health plans to help you work towards keeping yourself away from sicknesses during the holiday season, as well as the entire year.

Keep yourself warm and covered. This is the best advice possible, and it works. If you allow your body to be exposed and cold for too long, it lowers your defense against cold weather drastically. This can impair your body's ability to fight off infection and viruses.

Drink a lot of liquids. Water may not seem appealing in the winter, but it's the best thing for you. Not coffee, not hot cocoa, but water. Even for general health, water is the best thing for your body. The fluids will keep all of your cells acting properly, and proper oxygen will circulate through your body. This is a good way to keep your body strong and your general health in tact.

Exercise is the best way to keep your general health in perfect condition. It solves so many problems that would otherwise become overlooked and neglected. It has also been proven to improve the disorder called SAD, or seasonally afflicted depression. Exercise can also burn off all of the calories and pounds that you may be packing on during the cold months. Not only that, but your body will definitely thank you for it.

Multi-vitamins containing a full range of vitamins that your body needs is a great way to jump start your general health. Be careful though, some vitamins cannot be soaked up into your system as quickly as others. You may need to take 2 pills depending on your weight and fitness and a few other factors that contribute to your general health. Vitamins also increase your body's ability to defend against environmental hazards and problems.

Sleep is the number one key for staying healthy. Its not just general health that it influences, but its your overall total body health. A good solid amount of sleep each night can keep you prepared to work all day, and stay away from those nasty colds.
