The more natural choice - Wooden Venetian Blinds

By James Anthony

There are many different kinds of window dressings one can purchase and one that is proving ever more popular today are wooden venetian blinds. These types of blinds as well as preventing sunlight from entering a room can be opened so that enough can be allowed in that will help to warm the room up.

Many interior designers when redecorating rooms within a person's home will choose to go for wooden venetian blinds rather than traditional window dressings such as curtains. Below we take a look at some of the reasons why these sorts of blinds are fitted to windows.

1. Venetian blinds made from wood help to create a more pleasant and inviting atmosphere to a room. However, if you want yours to last although they are durable they need to be cared for correctly and below we explain this.

2. If you would like to you can match the wood trim and furniture in your home to the blinds that you have chosen to have installed. This again will help to create a more uniformed look to each room where they have been installed.

3. Today one can get ready made wooden Venetian blinds, however, for unusual sized windows it is better to have them custom made. Certainly custom made ones are more functional and you will find you get a much wider selection than you do with readymade ones. As well as many different designs and styles you are more able to match the color of the blinds to other items made from wood in your home.

Above we have looked at just some of the reasons why people decide to get wooden Venetian blinds installed. But once you have them installed if you want them to keep looking good you need to make sure that you take care of them correctly.

In order to prevent dust and dirt building up on the blinds in your home you need to make sure that you clean them on a regular basis. This can be done very easily and quickly by just wiping the surface of them over with a clean duster made from soft material or a soft brush. The third way of also cleaning dust and dirt on wooden venetian blinds is to get your vacuum cleaner and use it with the brush attachment on.

You can wipe the blinds down using a damp cloth but never should you immerse them fully into water. If you do eventually water will be able to break through the seal of the wooden Venetian blind slats and this will cause them to warp. So to help remove any stubborn dirt or dust from the blinds you just need to wipe over the surface of the slats with a damp cloth with some detergent on it.

If you want a window covering that will not only allow light in but provide good levels of privacy from the outside world. Isn't it about time you considered having some wooden Venetian blinds installed. - 16732
