Restore Your Grout Anew

By Rick Amorey

The first thing one needs to add to surface when putting tiles on a floor, bathroom area, pool, or a kitchen counter is grout. It's a type of cement that holds the tiles in place firmly. That said, it is also a necessity to keep the grout clean. Grout gets dirty very easily, and even be infested with mold and fungi.

Grout is very porous material. Like how a sponge is, it has quite a lot of pinprick holes which absorb foreign material like algae, moisture, juice...and also encourages mold growth. These get in deeper every day and gets much more difficult to remove with scrubbing once you decide to finally clean it up.

Cleaning up the grout not only makes the surrounding area much more cleaner and aesthetically pleasing, but keeps your home a lot more hygienic in general. I've seen not a few poorly maintained grout, and I can tell you: 9 out of 10 dirty grouts can be cleaned quite easily. If you can't or don't want to do it, chances are good you can hire a professional instead.

Before doing anything drastic like totally replacing the grout in your home, I would advise you to look around for a professional grout cleaner first. Professional cleaning services can do the job in a few hours, double that time for a pool area or a similar larger area. Areas that are in really bad shape and really poorly maintained might have the need to be replaced, but even then, grout cleaners will do the removing and replacing for you.

I personally recommend grout-cleaning professionals. They can do the job pretty well. Since it's their business to do so, they'll already have the machinery and equipment need to do the job. Also they'll have their own effective method of cleaning. Get ready to see your tiles and grout looking pretty new again. - 16732
