Methods of Playing Airsoft: Learning the Game

By Alexander Malroy

There are several methods of playing airsoft and only you can choose which one is right for you. The main objective to the game is to have fun and enjoy time with your opponents. Be the last one standing with these methods below.

MilSim is the short form or the abbreviation of Military Simulation. This method of the game is the simulation of the military live action that the players need to enact or role play. The objective of the players is set and they need to achieve those objectives. The assigned goals need to be accomplished and the players are provided with ammunitions, food supplies, gears, communication instruments and other related gears.

Military simulation games regularly lasts a number of days depending on how large the mission and the planning is. Both teams should remain in the playing field during the duration of the game and should only return to the neutral area only in medical emergencies and any other related circumstances. In large scale military simulations such as the likes of BERGET in Sweden, where the MilSim lasts up to a week without breaks, players may use military vehicles, trucks and vans. Sometimes an armored personnel carrier and tanks were utilized.

The Skirmish Operations Skirmish operations were the most popular type of play among the airsoft gun enthusiasts. Players may choose from different variations of schemes apart from the real battle itself. The players utilize hi-capacity magazines and typically dressed in BDUs. Their airsoft guns ranges from cheap to expensive ones, as the event can take place anywhere where the two opposing teams may consider appropriate to their playing needs such as woods, abandoned warehouse, factories or a farm.

This form of the game can be played in warehouses which are abandoned or other abandoned factories and farms. This is basically scheme gaming and in not played in the war fields. The Skirmish Operations is very popular because it can be played in spacious places and is easy to conduct. Imitating quarter battle, the game can be very interesting when played in scenarios like the urban settlements or jungle confrontation.

The Honor System This system relies on the honesty of the players during the game. The ability to admit if being hit is the key factor in this method, which unlike paintballs, plastic pellets have no way to distinguish if a player had been hit. There are plastic pellets in the market today with paint on it but players dont like to use them because of its ineffectiveness and the damage it may cause to the gun itself.

In the Honor system, the ability to admit is the key factor. This is because, it is difficult to find whether the bullet fired has actually hit or not. This may happen because of the distraction caused due to the action. Knife kill simulations can also take place. This depends on the venue of the game. Shooting at the point-blank region is discouraged in the game as this can cause accidents. Abrupt shooting (when enemies are not visible) is also discouraged. Again, an opponent who has surrendered or is already dead during the game should not be shot. These kinds of acts are penalized!

Players are advised not to shoot their weapons blindly when they are not able to see their opponents. Players should avoid shooting further opponents who surrendered and are already "dead." Harsh comments and language are also being prohibited as well as physical contact. Such acts are penalized; disagreements are expected to be resolved with appropriate rules and etiquette. - 16732
